Sip it Saturday: Cable Car Red Wine

Cable Car Red Wine is your basic red table wine and I picked it up on a guess that it might not be that bad with a 85 rating from the Wine Enthusiast July 2011 Issue.    

I found it a bit acidic at first sip. I am impatient and don't give it time to air.  Has what  I think is a very oaky smell and taste.  Not completey unpleasant.  Maybe not what I was wanting just then.   I should have picked up a Malbec instead.  Anyone have a good recommendation?

We just got our shipment of Yorkville Wines. Which one should I open tonight?

Wine: Tisdale Shiraz

I tried this wine for the first time tonight. It caught my eye recently as it's very inexpensive. At my local discount liquor store it's only $3.31 a bottle. So a steal by my accounts when I usually go for bottle at about $9-10. Tisdale Shiraz is a very good red wine and would do fine more most. In the glass you smell a very distinct oakiness. It goes down quite smooth with a bit of fruitiness but not sweet. I'd say this particular bottle tastes as good as any of the Gnarly Head wines I favor that cost anywhere from $8-10 and way better than Barefoot wines and cheaper too!



So go ahead and pour yourself a glass.

Wine - Cynthiana

I drink wine. I really like it and I might drink too much since I can't remember once I get to the liquor store some of the wines I've really enjoyed. I wish there was something like Ravelry or Library Thing for wine and there probably is but maybe friends might want to know what I've been drinking.

Last night I opened bottle of Cynthiana, a semi-dry red, from Kugler's Vinyard in Lawrence, Ks. It has a fruity tast that's not overly sweet yet sweeter than I usually drink. I've decided I would get it again. Even better my husband didn't care for it so for me! I think this would be great for mulled wine in the winter. I hope I remember to search my wine reviews in December when mulled wine sounds good. I think this would also taste good with some cheesecake.

I found this at my local liquor store which is unusual for local wines here in Kansas. Cost $10.99 which is not bad for a decent bottle of wine though there are a few that I like for less. So all in a reasonable price for a bottle of wine especially if you like something on the sweet side and something local.
