now back to our regularly scheduled program

YARN! sort of yarn. I'm dreaming of yarn and swatching with some yarn. I want to design my own sweater so I've been swatching up some ideas.

I've picked out a few sweaters and some shawls to make soon too. I plan to plunk some money down for some nice fiber at my local yarn store this weekend. I might just stop by before meeting with some of my favorite moms to have a cup of coffee or meal maybe, depends on my mood. So if for some reason I don't show up at the coffee shop it means the bamboo yarn has me in it's drapy, silky trance or the Frog Tree Alpaca has lulled me into a soft slumber. Feel free to drag me away from the Yarn Barn, I 'cause I want to see you too.

It used to be that books stores lulled me into his kind of stupor but not so now, now it's yarn or yarn books.

So with out further ado here are some of my up and coming project just for me.

soon to be project - dreaming of yarn

Sweaters from Hip to Crochet and Cool Crochet. A shawl and a skirt and possible a tank from Amazing Crocheted Lace, and another Shawl from an old Mon Tricot Mag.

Some swatching for the sweater I want to design. I'm using a star stitch I found in the Encyclopedia of Stitchery. I love how it looks. If I go with this it will be for the body of the sweater and I will do a slightly different pattern for the sleeves. The swatches are in a very decadent yarn by Frog Tree it's a pima cotton, silk blend. It is luscious, I love the muted colors and it's pricey. The sweater if I use the frog tree yarn would cost me lots of dollars so I might not and it's not a very practical sweater.

Ugh! Edited to correct typo's. I had not had my coffee yet.

W(h)IMs - just the crochet ones!

Works in My Mind (WIM)

I want to make so many things, the kids ask me to make them things but I get so easily distracted by the next new book or technique. So to have a better idea of what I want to do I went through my many crochet magazines and pattern books to see what I've been dreaming of making. I think I need to live 'til I am 150 at least. Not to mention I need to win the lottery to afford to do all of these things. I also want to spend time with my kids before they grow up and have the grandkids I want to spend time with. There is my husband and my friends. Oh the horror (as my son would say) what's a fiber geek to do?

So I'm making a list and checking it twice to get more clear on what I really want to accomplish. How many shawls does one woman really need to have? How many pairs of socks? I'm not sure I'm much clearer yet. At least when I'm burning to buy some yarn or wanting a challenge I can go to this list and think about it for a minute. It might help curb my PAS -pattern acquisition syndrome. I had to stop myself twice at the book store a few days ago from buying the Crochet 2007 calendar (many of the patterns are available free online anyway) even though it was 50% off and a crochet magazine with some cute holiday crochet crafts.

    Welcome to Fiber Star

This post was my first post from my former blog which all posts (hopefully) have been moved here.

Fiber Star (because secretly I want to be famous), is my place to share my wisdom and inspiration in my fiber arts journey. My current passion is crocheting.

I'm also learning to knit and dabble in felting, tie dyeing, and low-water immersion dyeing. Currently, I'm dreaming about teaching crocheting and dyeing, selling some of my designs and things I make, and writing articles about crocheting and other fiber arts.

I usually have several crocheting projects going at once. You can see some of my finished work and works in progress if you click on my flickr button on the side bar.

My project list just seems to get longer and longer:

    FreeForm Crochet

Amigurumi, crocheted stuffed animals. I have made a few cats which I will share in a future post with a pattern too.

    Make myself a poncho.

A baby blanket for my dd's baby doll(s)

    A crochet stitch sampler

Make the colorwaves sweater (I already have the yarn.)

My ds wants me to make him a red sweater.

I want to improve my Spiral Baby Cardigan design.

I also want to make some hats and maybe a poncho for a young girl I found out has leukemia.

    Crocheted slippers

    A crocheted skirt

make the easy going hoodie and make the make an hemp necklace just below.

low-water immersion dye some fabric and clothing that's looking lonely and neglected from Dharma Trading Co.

    Tie Dye some socks

    Dye some yarn

    And more.....
